Hear us now, our God and Father by Harry N. Huxhold and John Newton

This hymn is new enough to be protected by copyright, so we cannot provide the text here. You can find the text in our hymnal, Grant me, God, the Gift of Singing, and most other Lutheran hymnals.

The hymn is a beautiful prayer of intercession asking God to bind the hearts of a couple in love, to give them joy, hope, strength, and grace, and to stay with them throughout their lives that they may remain in union with each other and God.

The tune was written by R.H. Prichard in 1830. You can also sing this hymn to the very, very well-known tune to What a friend we have in Jesus.
