The President’s Report, 2014

Knud Nielsen Another year came to an end, and it is time to reflect on what happened. We started the year with closing the down stairs hall and kitchen; so we could finish the floor, paint the walls and put up a new ceiling. We also finished the kitchen cupboards, and painted the Sunday schoolroom. It was all badly needed. In the spring we installed an electric door to the outside to make the church handicap friendly.

We had a young volunteer, Astrid Kofoed, working in the church for the first part of the year, it was nice to have a volunteer again, and it looks like we will get another in the fall.

In June we had a visit from Pastor Bodil Toftdahl and David, it was nice to see them again. Bodil had a service while she was here.

In August we held the annual picnic at the Nielsen farm, with over 50 people attending, and we raised $250 for LUMS. As you might know LUMS has closed due to lack of funds, we are at present looking into finding another charity to support. There is another Lutheran organization in Surrey called SUMS that I think we could support. It is really SLUMS but they left out the L it sounds better.

At the end of July we had a wonderful visit from a Danish folk music group “Habedakuk”. It was short notice, but with email and word of mouth we had a really good concert that was well attended.

I would like to say thank you to Flemming Nielsen, Dana Collins and Jakob Mortensen for 4 years service on the board, and to Gerd Mølhøj for 1 year as an alternate I would like to say thank you to the Board members for their hard work and dedication. Thank you to Pastor Birgitte for your sermons and your dedication to the Church. Last but not least Thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who makes this church what it is, a Danish Lutheran Church.

Knud Nielsen, President.
